Gabriel Ventura (Granollers, 1988) is a writer and translator. He has translated works by Samuel Beckett, Sarah Holland-Batt, Jen George, Judith Thurman and Joseph Brodsky; he has also written articles, stories and reports for publications such as Catalunya Plural, Branca, El Temps de les Arts or A*DESK. His most recent books are W (2017), Apunts per a un incendi dels ulls (2020) –which inspired the title of a MACBA exhibit– and La nit portuguesa (2021), an account of the filming of Albert Serra’s film Liberté. His poems have been translated into English, French, Greek and Dutch. In 2018 he received the Montserrat Roig grant. Bridging multiple disciplines, he also takes part in artistic action with pieces like (-N-O-E-M-A-), L’ajudant, La secta de la trena, RANDOM SHIT or Passió i cartografia per a un incendi dels ulls, a poem and series of derivations published by the MACBA in 2022. Since 2019 he has been a professor of creative writing at BAU, Centre Universitari de Disseny de Barcelona.
