Gabriela Escobar was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Her novel Si las cosas fuesen como son received the Juan Carlos Onetti Prize in 2021 and was a finalist for the IESS Prize by Edizioni SUR (Italy, 2022) and the longlist of the Finestres Prize (Spain, 2023). She has colaborated in literary magazines and is part of the Devotas Anthology of Lesbian Poetry. She completed the Creative Writing and Literary Criticism diploma at the UNAM Writing School, and is an advanced student in the Bachelor of Visual and Plastic Arts of Fine Arts and in the Dramaturgy Technical Program at UDELAR-EMAD.
