Marcos Giralt Torrente (Madrid, 1968) is a writer and literary critic with a degree in philosophy. He has worked with El País newspaper since 1995, and has written in its supplement Babelia since 2010. He has published the collection of stories Entiéndame (1995) and the novels Paris (1999 Herralde Prize for Novels) and Los seres felices (2005). In 2010 he published his autobiographical novel Tiempo de vida (2022 Spanish National Prize for Narrative and 2014 Strega European Prize). He has also published the collections of stories The End of Love (2011) and Mudar de piel (2018). His latest work is Algún día seré recuerdo (2023). His books have been translated into Italian, German, French, Italian and Portuguese, among other languages. He has been a resident writer at the Spanish Academy in Rome, the University of Aberdeen, the Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf, the Maison des Écrivains Etrangers et des Traducteurs de Saint Nazaire and the Santa Maddalena Foundation. In 2002 he also participated in Artists-in-Residence in Berlin. He is a member of the Order of Finnegans. He currently lives and writes in Madrid.
