Marta San Miguel (Santander, 1981) is a writer and journalist. Her first novel, ‘Antes del salto’ (Libros del Asteroide, 2022), was selected among the best debut works of the year by Spanish media. She has received awards such as the XXIX Premio José Hierro de Poesía for her book ‘Meridiano’ (2010) and was a finalist for the XIII Premio de Relato Cosecha Eñe 2018. Among her published works are ‘Una forma de permanencia’, about Racing de Santander, within the Hooligans Ilustrados collection by Libros del KO (2019); the essay ‘Entre líneas’ in the collective book ‘Poesía con Norte’ (Editorial Pretextos, 2014); and the poetry collection ‘El tiempo vertical’ (2015). Her stories have appeared in collective books such as ‘El Descuento’, published by Panenka (2024), or ‘Maternidades’ (Editorial Sonámbulos, 2021). With a degree in Journalism from the Universidad de Navarra (2003), she worked for twenty years at the newspaper El Diario Montañés. Currently, she is an opinion columnist for Grupo Vocento’s newspapers and La ‘Tercera’ of the newspaper ABC. She is the screenwriter of the documentary series ‘En Primicia’, broadcast in 2024 on TVE, and has collaborated on the radio program Hoy por Hoy on Cadena SER and in magazines such as Jotdown, El Ciervo, and Yorokobu.
