Giuseppe Caputo (Barranquilla, 1982) is a Colombian writer. He graduated from the University of New York and the University of Iowa with a degree in creative writing. He is the author of the novels Un mundo huérfano (2016) and Estrella madre (2020). An Orphan World, Juana Adcock and Sophie Hughes’ translation of Un mundo huérfano, received an English Penn Award. Estrella madre received a nomination to the 2022 Finestres Spanish-Language Narrative Award. Caputo served as the cultural director of the International Book Fair of Bogotá (FILBo) from 2015 to 2018, and was one of the writers selected for the 2017 Bogotá39–Hay Festival. He is currently the academic coordinator and a professor of the degree in creative writing at the Instituto Caro y Cuervo, where he has also directed community writing projects like Encorazonadas.
